About Us
Paula Bickford is the Director of Shambhala St. Pete.
Paula is a
Professor of Neurosurgery and Pharmacology at the University of South Florida and a research scientist at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa.
In addition to teaching Shambhala Training weekends, and giving meditation instruction and discussion facilitation during open house Sundays, Paula has been teaching classes at the Shambhala Center on weekday nights from the Buddhist Studies Program and other classes based on the books of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and Pema Chodron. |

Gayle Van Gils is the Director of Shambhala Florida which consists of five city groups in St. Petersburg, West Palm Beach, Miami, Gainesville, and Tallahassee.
Gayle was a close student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and founded the St. Petersburg center in 2000.
She is currently launching an online community based on the book Ruling Your World by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. You may contact Gayle directly for further details of this project.

Enter the building around the back side.
From the South:
Take I-275 North over the Skyway bridge and merge onto I-375 E via exit number 23A toward THE PIER. Take the exit - exit number 1 - toward 8th Street N/ 9th Street N. Turn left at the first traffic light onto Martin Luther King St (also called 9th St). Proceed about 4 blocks and turn LEFT onto 9th Ave. N. The Center for healing is located on the NW corner of 9th Ave. North and Jackson Street North.
From Tampa:
Take I-275 South across the Howard Franklin Bridge to 22nd Avenue North exit in St. Petersburg. Take Exit and turn Left (East) onto 22nd Avenue North and continue to 16th Street North. Turn Right (South) onto 16th Street North and continue to follow to 9th Ave. N. Turn Left (East) onto 9th Ave. N. The Center for healing is located on the NW corner of 9th Ave. North and 10th Street North.
