Membership - St. Petersburg/Tampa Shambhala Meditation Group

Becoming a member of the Tampa/St. Petersburg Meditation Group is a statement about your personal inspiration, curiosity, and commitment to the path of awakening. It means participating in a community of practitioners who aspire to relate to each other with honesty, warmth, and openness. We inspire one another to deepen our practice of mindfulness, awareness and compassion. We also provide each other an opportunity to practice compassion and patience.

Membership is a commitment to meditation practice, dharma study, and to become involved in the activities at the Tampa/St. Petersburg Meditation Group. There are many benefits to becoming a member. Members can receive ongoing meditation instruction with a personal meditation instructor who helps them deepen their meditation practice and understanding of the Shambhala Buddhist teachings. Members are invited to community events, programs, classes, and receive discounts for some programs. Members strengthen their understanding of Shambhala Buddhism by attending classes and programs, and by having a regular sitting meditation practice.

In addition to these benefits, members become a crucial part of the financial and volunteer support of the center. Without our community's financial and volunteer support, the Shambhala Center could not offer all of the wonderful things that we do. It is because of our members that the profound tradition of meditation has been able to survive and flourish. Payment of membership dues is the financial backbone of our Shambhala centers. The amount of dues is adjustable based on what you can afford. Volunteer work is how we are able to offer programs and services. Ask other members at your local center about how you can contribute your time, energy, and/or financial resources to help the activities of Shambhala continue to grow.
